In the spring of 2008, Mike Foster, his wife, Carol, and their children, made the rugged slopes of Pine Mountain their home. Like the homesteading families of the 1800s, the whole Foster clan is committed to cultivating and protecting the land. Under expert Vineyard Managers Glenn Alexander and Dave Komar, the Foster kids nurture the vines of Tin Cross Vineyards and help bring in harvest. And much like the pioneering families who came before, everyone kicks back at the end of the day to a communal meal, often enjoyed on the porch overlooking the Alexander Valley more than 2,000 feet below.
Mike takes great pleasure in the challenge of capturing the most expressive cellar traditions of Bordeaux with the wines we are producing. He enjoys showing friends around the estate on Pine Mountain, pointing out the natural wildlife that live in and among the property's protected natural habitats. On any given day visitors can observe the family of swans on one of our five ponds, as well as the deer, wild boar, wild turkeys, and the occasional mountain lion, who make Tin Cross Vineyards their home.
