2010 Dark Rosé

Philosophy & Terroir

The marriage of California's frontier spirit, coupled with time-honored French winemaking techniques, give depth and nuance to Captûre Wines. Our 2010 Dark Rosé is a Bordeaux-style dry Rosé, comprised predominantly of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. We selected grapes from the unique terroir of our Tin Cross Vineyards estate. Situated 2,450 feet above the Alexander Valley floor, our vineyards are among the highest in California.

Winemaking

With multi-generational experience from Château Latour, our winemaking team understands the methods behind crafting classic Bordeaux-style Rosé with intense fruit from hillside vineyards harvested at peak ripeness.

After meticulous hand-sorting and de-stemming, the skins, the juice and the seeds macerate together for 12-hours to enhance the characters and perfect color of the wine. We then bleed part of the juice for a long fermentation in stainless steel barrels between 55 and 60° F to emphasize the brilliant fruit and maintain optimum acidity.

The fully fermented wine is aged sur lie for 10 months, with extensive stirring during the first two months to reinforce its bright fruit expression and improve mouth-feel.

Winemaker Notes

Our 2010 Dark Rosé reveals scents of warm summer berries, strawberries, raspberries and pomegranate. The creamy texture with sweet spice and freshness comes from the sur lie ageing. You may enjoy our Dark Rosé now or keep it for future pleasure.

Farming

The grapes used for this wine come from the vineyard blocks of Tin Cross Vineyards. Every vine on our estate is organically grown and maintained to meet rigorous field specifications, a practice which yields healthier, more sustainable vines that positively contribute to the longevity of the land and the quality of the fruit produced.
