2009 Les Pionniers Sauvignon Blanc
The marriage of California's frontier spirit, coupled with time-honored French winemaking techniques, give depth and nuance to Captûre Wines. For our 2009 Les Pionniers Sauvignon Blanc, we have selected grapes of exceptional quality from several distinct Sonoma County hillside vineyards. These low yielding sites produce fruit with a range of Sauvignon Blanc characteristics, including bright citrus aromas and flavors, delicate floral hints, lively minerality and balanced acidity.
With multi-generational experience from Château Latour, our winemaking team understands the methods behind crafting classic Bordeaux-style Sauvignon Blanc with intense fruit from hillside vineyards. Meticulous hand sorting, at a rate of less than two tons per hour, ensures that only the finest grapes are selected at their peak ripeness.
Our 2009 Les Pionniers Sauvignon Blanc has a nose rich with aromas of stone fruit such as apricots and peaches. We find hints of ripe pears with a floral touch of orange blossom. The wine has extraordinary balance and a long finish, where the minerality declares it a "vin de terroir". Try this wine well chilled, and then enjoy its shifting complexity as the wine slowly warms.
The blocks from which we harvest the grapes for Les Pionniers offer a range of soil types that contribute to the rich mouth-feel of this wine. The soils range from volcanic clay to gravelly clay-loam, which supply rich nutrients and stable organic materials. The loam soil is ideal for filtration and drainage of the land. The vineyards are sustainably farmed to Captûre's rigorous field specifications.
