2009 Fleuron Chardonnay
Fleuron wines are inspired by the distinctive vineyard sites from which the fruit is grown, and the California poppies that flourish across all of these properties in Sonoma, Napa and Lake Counties. The wines are made to enjoy with friends and family over delicious food and reminiscent stories. In every bottle, the distinct terroir from which the wine originated and the special bond among our winery family is present, so you may share these precious gifts with others.
With multi-generational experience from Château Latour and a personal history in making wine in Burgundy, our winemaking team understands the methods behind crafting classic French-style Chardonnay.
After a meticulous hand-picking and sorting, the whole clusters are gently pressed using a specific press program, a pure product of the Burgundian traditions. After a 2 day cold settling, the clean juice is fully fermented in French oak barrels at about 60°F in order to preserve all the characteristics of the terroir. The new wine is then aged sur lie for 11 months, and gets gently stirred every two weeks for the first three months of its life.
The fruit for Fleuron's Tin Cross Vineyards Chardonnay is grown at an elevation of more than 1,600 feet above the Alexander Valley. The wine has a golden color and a nose of honeysuckle, lemon blossom and white stone fruit, as well as a generous mouth-feel and a lingering finish.
The grapes used for this wine come from the vineyard sites of Tin Cross Vineyards. Every vine on our estate is organically grown and maintained to meet rigorous field specifications, a practice which yields healthier, more sustainable vines that positively contribute to the longevity of the land and the quality of the fruit produced.
